Chandigarh reported the second-highest daily number of COVID-19 cases since the global pandemic struck.

The UT recorded 422 cases and four COVID-19 deaths cases on Friday, taking the city’s total number of cases to 29,943. 

A 54-year-old male and a 44-year-old female passed away at PGIMER. Both had comorbidities. Another 28-year-old male and 65-year-old female died at GMCH-32.  

The total number of COVID deaths stands at 393. About 320 patients have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours.

Over 3,000 cases remain active in the city. 

Last year, on September 13, Chandigarh logged 449 cases.
