Shopkeepers of the electricity and furniture market in the Industrial Area, Phase II, Chandigarh, on Wednesday pulled down the shutters of their shops in protest against an inspection carried out by a team of the Estate Office. The team reached the market to conduct a survey of violations of building bylaws, if any, by shopkeepers. The protesters also sat on a dharna. They gave a call for a total bandh in the market on Thursday.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
