One death, 39 more test positive in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The city on Thursday reported 39 new cases of Covid and one death, raising the infection tally to 19,748 and toll to 317. There are 386 active cases in the city. TNS

As per the Centre’s instructions, the UT will conduct the dry run to check the preparedness of the Health Department for the vaccination programme. The department has already selected a few sites for the mock drive, which will test the mechanism for the programme. During the exercise, each site will have 25 pre-registered persons on the CoWIN portal, called through an SMS. They will be verified, “mock-vaccinated” and observed for 30 minutes before being allowed to leave.

The process will provide an insight into gaps or lacunae in vaccine distribution and administration, if any, so that these can be addressed before rolling out the vaccination drive. —TNS
