Chandigarh wheelchair cricket team emerge national champions

The city wheelchair cricket team won the 4th National Wheelchair Cricket Championship, held in Gwalior Madhya Pradesh, securing a seven-wicket win over Karnataka in the final.

Batting first, Karnataka posted 201/6, but Chandigarh posted 204/3 with a brilliant knock by Sandeep Kundu (116 off 53 balls).

In the league matches, the Chandigarh team had defeated Rajasthan by 44 runs, followed by a convincing 97-run victory over Uttarakhand. In their third match, the side triumphed over Haryana by 80 runs. Chandigarh then defeated Goa by a massive margin of 290 runs.

The team sealed a thrilling four-wicket win over Punjab and in quarterfinal and Tamil Nadu in the semifinal. Meanwhile, Sandeep Kundu was declared Man of the Series.

Skipper Veer Sandhu, Sukhwant Singh, Kundu, Sheelchand, Rajesh Verma, Ranjit Singh, Pawan Bawa, Lovepreet, Jassa Singh comprised the team coached by Jagroop Kundu.
