Woman’s purse stolen from car
Chandigarh: A woman’s purse containing gold ornaments and cash was stolen from a car in Sector 34. Complainant Sukhchain Singh, a Mansa resident, reported that his wife’s purse containing two gold bangles, two pairs of earrings and Rs 4,000 was stolen from his car parked in front of a gurdwara in Sector 34. Minor assaulted, two booked
Chandigarh: Two residents of Sector 50 have been booked for assaulting a minor boy. The police said the 15-year-old complainant alleged that Jaskirat, alias Prince (19), and Rajinder Singh (53), both residents of BSNL Society, thrashed him near the society. A case has been registered. TNS
Woman held with ganja
Panchkula: A team of the anti-narcotics cell arrested a woman, identified as Neetu of Bangala Basti, Pinjore, and recovered 1.4 kg of ganja from her possession. An official of the cell said during patrolling in the Pinjore area, a police team noticed the suspect coming from Bangala Basti and retreating on seeing cops. The official added that the team searched her and found her in possession of 1.4 kg of ganja. She was produced in court, which sent her to one-day remand. TNS

Chandigarh: Akul Bhanot scored 188, while Balraj Singh posted 177 as DAV College, Sector 10, Cricket Academy logged a 209-run win over CL Champs, Panchkula, during the ongoing First Shushma Vij Memorial Cricket Tournament. Batting first, the Sector-10 team posted 390 for no loss as Bhanot scored 188 off 99 balls, with 22 boundaries and nine sixes, while Balraj contributed 177 off 113 balls, with 20 boundaries and seven sixes. The openers remained unbeaten. In reply, the Panchkula team scored 181/9 in allotted overs. Skipper Arjun (82) remained the main scorer for the side. TNS

6-under 66 in round one of the Rs 1 crore Vooty Masters golf tournament 2024 at Vikarabad. Chilean Matias Dominguez and Patna’s Aman Raj were placed one stroke behind the leader in tied second position, while Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma remained tied-fourth with Rahil Gangjee and Amardeep Malik at 68. Mohali: Launching Pad Cricket Academy, Mohali, defeated Sunrise Cricket Academy, Zirakpur, by 96 runs in the Second DP Azad Invitational Trophy. Batting first, Launching Pad scored 251/9 in 40 overs. Mohali: Royal Cricket Academy, Sector 27, recorded an eight-wicket win over HSC Academy, Sector 32, during the First RP Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament. Batting first, the Sector 32 team posted 205/4 in 40 overs. In reply, Royal Cricket Academy achieved the target in 24.5 overs as Jasmeet Baidwan scored quick fire 64 runs off 58 balls while Deepti Walia added 48 runs.
