Chandigarh’s Kanishka Kalia moved into the next round of the girls’ U-19 category by registering a comeback (5-15, 15-11, 15-13) win over Haryana’s Vineeta Panchal in the ongoing Yonex-Sunrise 29th Smt Krishna Khaitan All-India Junior (U-19) Ranking Badminton Tournament.

Manya Ralhan defeated Dyotna Komaravelli (15-12, 15-7), Hashini overpowered Rhucha Sawant (14-16, 19-17, 15-13) and Swati Solanki blanked Sarah Sharma (15-11, 15-5) in other matches. Tanvi Sharma also moved ahead by defeating Pratishtha Shenoy (15-4, 15-4), Flora Engineer defeated Megha Nasir (15-6, 11-15, 15-6) and Gayathri Rani Jaiswal overpowered Sanusree KS (15-5, 15-13). Tanoo Chandra recorded an easy (15-10, 15-5) win over Keerthika CH and Rijul Saini blanked Sri Gayathri S (15-12, 15-9). Mansa Rawat defeated Reeva Evangelin M (15-9, 12-15, 15-12) and Adita Rao blanked Naina Chauhan (15-8, 15-6).

Kush-Isobel march ahead

In the U-19 mixed doubles event, Kush Vats and Isobel Kuriyan defeated Harikesh Verma and Vineeta Panchal (15-10, 15-11). Saitluangpuia Sailo and Lalthazuali Abigail also march ahead by overpowering a tough challenge by Vamsi Krishna Raj A and Sarah Sharma (8-15, 15-10, 15-11), while Arnav Lunawat and Ananya Gadgil defeated Maxen Dain and Kadeeja Nizah (15-4, 20-18). Prem Kumar Prabhu R and Kanishka G teamed up to defeat Ankit Malik and Palak Arora (15-13, 15-13), while Saurav Sahu and Tanoo Chandra defeated Ahwani Kumar Singh and Shiwangi Singh (15-12, 10-15, 15-9).

In the boys’ U-19 singles qualifying round, Assam’s Udayan Saikia defeated Nagi Reddy Nallamilli (15-11, 9-15, 15-11). Suveer Pradhan ousted Vaibhav Mehra (15-11, 15-12) and Manish Phogat overpowered Saurav Sahu (15-12, 15-11). Siddharth Modi found hard to defeat Alen Singh Rajkumar (10-15, 15-12, 15-13), while Mridul Bhiryani registered win over Sriragh Sangisetty (13-15, 15-11, 15-6). Siddharth Rawat defeated Neer Bhardwaj (15-5, 15-7), Harshan T outplayed Ishmeet Singh (15-5, 16-18, 15-6) and Venkata Sai Harshit Tummala defeated Dishant Thalor (17-15, 15-11) in some other matches.
