A chemical leakage from a tanker that was hit by a truck in Desumajra on Kharar national highway triggered panic in Mohali.

The accident occurred around 4:30am.

Travellers on the road complained of burning sensation in eyes and of a pungent smell.

Police, fire and MC officials rushed to the spot. Two fire tenders brought the situation under control within an hour. Later, the remaining half-filled tanker was taken to a Kurali industrial unit and a fire tender was along keeping safety in mind.

A team of NDRF has taken samples from the tanker and further investigations are underway.
