Chhatbir Zoo will remain closed for public on Sundays due to a surge in the Covid-19 cases in the district.

Officials said a large number of visitors come to the zoo daily. The number of people visiting the zoo on Sundays and holidays reaches 2,700. The Mohali Deputy Commissioner has decided to close the zoo on Sundays.

M Sudhagar, Field Director, Chhatbir Zoo, said the decision was taken keeping in view the safety of animals and visitors.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
