Chandigarh, December 19

A resident of Sector 33 here has been booked under the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act for duping 19 persons to the tune of Rs 60 lakh.

According to the police, the complainant, Ramesh Chander of Sector 33, reported that Ram Chhangur allured him, along with 18 others, to invest in committee business while assuring them of heavy profit. The victims made their investments. Later, the suspect refused to return their money, following which they approached the police.

A case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
