Chitkara University announced a new long-term strategic initiative to establish the Chitkara International College (CIC) in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU). CIC will offer ASU degree programmes to students, allowing them to start their ASU undergraduate degree programmes in India, before transferring to the United States. The students can study at CIC for the first two years before seamlessly transferring to ASU to complete their degree. Graduates of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) programmes will also be eligible for a three-year OPT work opportunity after graduation.
Sec 45 College gets new principal
Dr Agnese Dhillon, secretary, Dev Samaj College Managing Committee, appointed Dr Neeru Malik as Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women (DSCW), Sector 45. Neeru Malik has an academic career spanning more than two decades. Before joining as the college principal, she has held various important offices over the years. She has been a member of Panjab University’s senate twice, since 2016.
Yellow fervour at Mohali institute
Basant Panchmi was celebrated with enthusiasm at Khalsa College of Technology and Business Studies in Phase-3A. Dressed in yellow attires, the students and staff members of the college celebrated the festival enthusiastically. The college management also organised various competitions for the students such as slogan-writing, kite-flying and turban-tying. The students danced and sang folk songs on Basant Panchmi. The NSS wing of the college made useful items from waste materials, which was praised by Dr Harish Kumari, principal. She highlighted the historical importance of Basant Panchmi, calling it a festival of joy. The winners of various competitions were honoured with mementos.
Seminar on Human Resources held
University Institute of Applied Management Sciences organised a one-day seminar on ‘Measurement in Human Resource Functions: Changing Trends’ sponsored by RUSA. The national seminar was a dynamic platform for professionals, students, and researchers, to engage in discussions, share insights, and explore the latest issues and trends as experienced in human resource functions.
Basant Panchami celebrated
The students, faculty and staff of Department of Music celebrated Basant Panchami by organising Saraswati poojan. The students presented Saraswati vandana, raag basant and also showcased instrumental orchestra.
Workshop on Molecular Techniques
Department of Biochemistry organised a two-day workshop on ‘Molecular Techniques in Biochemistry’ at Department of Biochemistry. The workshop was designed with an aim to provide a hands-on training to the postgraduate students for analysis of important biomolecules by giving exposure to sophisticated molecular techniques such as Western blotting and Polymerase Chain reaction (PCR).
