City cops win 17 medals at judo meet

The championship, organised by the J&K Police, witnessed participation from police forces across the country. The Chandigarh Police contingent competed in Pencak Silat, Judo, Wushu and Taekwondo, showcasing remarkable skill, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the event.
In Pencak Silat, the team emerged as top performers, securing 10 medals, including four gold medals. Sonia and Simran each clinched two gold medals, while Manpreet and Ritu earned silver medals. Bronze medals in the same category went to Amit, Anju Kumari, Aman and Pooja.
The judo team won four medals, including a silver by Parvinder and bronzes by Divesh, Savitri and Jyoti. In Wushu, Harish struck gold while Ritu added a bronze. Sonam secured a gold medal in Taekwondo, rounding off the contingent’s total to six gold, three silver and eight bronze medals.
Sandeep Kumar coached the team, while Sandeep Kundu served as team manager. Commending the players, Chandigarh Police officials lauded their hard work, discipline and determination, stating that their performance exemplifies the force’s commitment to excellence both in service and in sports.
