Mayor Raj Bala Malik tested positive for Covid-19 today.

In a tweet, she wrote: “Was not feeling well for the past two days, so got tested for corona and (report) came positive today. I request all who have come in contact with me in the past three days to isolate themselves and get tested in case of any symptom.” An MC spokesperson said her office had been closed for public dealing and was being sanitised.

The public dealing in the MC office in Sector 17 has been crippling with its employees, including senior officials, testing positive. The booking department, vendor registration office and the fire department have been the worst hit due to the pandemic.

With the Mayor going into isolation, there is a cloud over the next monthly coordination committee meeting between her and the UT Adviser.

Yesterday, Senior Deputy Mayor Ravi Kant Sharma and two MC employees had tested positive. In a Facebook post, Sharma had stated that he had already isolated himself seven days ago.
