The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is likely to have a Chandigarh chapter. A meeting of representatives of scientific, defence and academic organisations based in the region was held at the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) here today to discuss the modalities.

Headquartered in New York, the ASME is a professional association that promotes art, science and the practice of multi-disciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe.

CSIO Director Shantanu Bhattacharya highlighted the immense benefits that the chapter could bring for engineering education and professional development of the engineering community in the region.

President, ASME India, Madhukar Sharma, who was also present in the meeting, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the ASME’s initiatives and various opportunities that it offers.
