The visit was part of DLSA’s routine monitoring and supervisory checks aimed at ensuring the welfare and proper upkeep of facilities provided to children residing in such institutions.
During her visit, Bhardwaj thoroughly examined various registers, attendance records and maintenance logs to assess the administrative functioning of the institution. All records were found to be properly maintained. She personally interacted with children and staff of the CCI, inquiring about their daily routine, quality of food, health facilities, education and overall living conditions. The children appeared to be in good spirits and openly shared their experiences with Bhardwaj.
As part of the inspection, Bhardwaj also undertook a detailed tour of the institution premises to assess the physical infrastructure and overall hygiene conditions. She observed that grass had overgrown in the lawn area and instructed the authorities concerned to trim it immediately to maintain cleanliness and prevent any health or safety hazards.
Bhardwaj also noted that in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Haryana State Council for Child Welfare regarding the organisation of “Summer camp – 2025” across all state-run CCIs, various co-curricular and recreational activities were being conducted for the holistic development of children. These activities include singing, dancing, painting, arts and crafts and essay writing, among others. She emphasised that such camps played a crucial role in providing children with a platform to express themselves, build confidence, and develop life skills. The staff were instructed to ensure maximum participation of children in these activities.
“The aim is to promote creativity, teamwork and a positive environment that contributes to the physical and emotional well-being of every child in care,” Bhardwaj said. The inspection concluded with assurances from the CCI officials regarding timely and efficient implementation of the directives issued.
