Chandigarh, November 21

The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi celebrated the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev with a three-day festival of divine music ‘Ekas ke ham Barik’ at Tagore theatre, today. On the second day of the event, Pandit Ajay Pohankar of Kirana Gharana presented a soulful rendition of classical music.

Pandit Pohankar opened up his recital with Om tom alaap of raga Bihag, which melted into kban dhang tora. It was a delight for classical music lovers. Vidushi Neera Grover will perform today.

Pandit Ajay enthrals music aficionados

Pandit Ajay Pohankar presented a magical recital during an evening of classical music organised at Gandharava Mahavidyalya Hall, Panchkula, in his inimitable style. He rendered Raga Yaman –Vilambit Khyal –“Meri man bandh linho” and Drut Khyal – “Mai sugam roop suhave” and Madhya laya composition “Chaal Chale Gori”. Later on, he presented a Pahari Thumri “Saiyan bina ghar soona’ on demand of the audience.
