Women’s imaging is an important sub-speciality of radiology as it deals with early diagnosis and screening of breast and cervical cancers which are now the leading cause of mortality among women both worldwide as well as in India, Dr MS Sandhu, Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, said at the Dr Rajendra Rao CME on women’s imaging here today.

The two-day CME, which is being conducted by the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging, is being hosted by the Chandigarh Chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association at PGIMER.

The CME was inaugurated by Prof Arvind Rajwanshi, Dean, PGIMER. Dr Shailesh Lunawat, Secretary, ICRI, was the guest of honour.

Dr Naveen Kalra, Department of Radiodiagnosis, said the women’s imaging section of the department provided excellence in diagnosis to women having breast, gynaecological and obstetric problems. Dr Rajwanshi said there was availability of state-of-the-art equipment, which included digital breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography), automated breast ultrasound (ABUS), shear wave and strain ultrasound elastography systems, upright and prone table stereotactic biopsy units, 1.5 T and 3 T MRI machines in the Department of Radiodiagnosis. — TNS
