The initiative is on the lines of suggestions under the National Education Policy 2020.

Confirming the development, Rubinderjit Brar, Director of Higher Education, said, “We will have the Centralised Placement Cell for government colleges of the city during the next semester i.e. before placement drive.”

As per the data of placements for the last three academic sessions, only 15% of the students who graduated got placed.

The average placements in the colleges from academic session 2020-21 to 2022-23 have been 12.5% in PGGC-11, 5.02% in PGGCG-11, 4.3% in PGGCG-42 and 2.75% in PGGC-46. The data is as per the reports submitted by the colleges for NIRF Ranking 2024.

An per sources, there is no specific criteria or limit for good placements in Arts or BCA colleges.

Therefore, it is very important to focus on these colleges. Internships are conducted in professional courses like MBBS and MBA, but there is no such provision at the graduation level. The cell is being prepared so that training and placement opportunities can be provided to the students at this level as well.
