Discontent with the policies of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), people from several villages joined the Congress party.

A large number of villagers from Sando joined the Congress in the presence of former MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra. Earlier the villagers from Sadomajra, Jakhwali, Kotla Jattan and Sirhind town had already joined the party, bolstering its standing.

Many prominent local leaders including Varinderjit Singh Banni from Saunda along with Dharminder Singh, Malkit Singh, Gurjit Singh, Satnam Singh, Mandeep Singh among others joined the Congress party after deserting the AAP. The leaders were inducted into the Congress fold by Nagra.
