during the protest at Sector 34, Chandigarh.

Chhabra said first the victim was not given security and police assistance, then there was unduly long delay in registration of an FIR and action. Even after the death of the victim Dalit girl, her family was denied the right to cremation of their daughter when her body was hastily burnt on funeral pyre in the middle of night by Uttar Pradesh cops, Chhabra added.

The Chandigarh Congress also questioned the manner in which the village of victim was sealed and turned into a fortress. During the protest water canon was used on protesters. Chhabra along with Vishal Attri, Prempal Chauhan, Love Kumar and Mahila Congress workers, including Premlata and Pammi, were left injured.
