The police have arrested a local resident, Jatinder Pandit, a contractor hailing from Bihar, for faking a robbery to settle a score with his acquaintances, whom he owed money.

The police said the suspect had borrowed Rs 50,000 from his acquaintances. On July 4, he made a call to police helpline 112, claiming that he was robbed of Rs 1 lakh and his bike. The police investigated the matter and found the call to be fake. A case was registered against the contractor at the IT City police station.

The DSP (City 2), Harsimran Singh Bal, said, “The suspect was produced before the court today.”

The police said a similar fake call was received on June 29 in which a person was booked.
