After people defied lockdown, Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Amrit Kaur Gill today imposed curfew under Section 144 in the wake of Covid-19 scare in the district.

The police tried their best to keep residents stay indoors, but some ventured out by giving one or the other reason.

In her orders, the Deputy Commissioner issued mentioned that due to serious threat of Covid-19 epidemic in Fatehgarh Sahib, there is apprehension of breach of public peace which is likely to take shape of violence endangering human life, property and disturbing public tranquillity.

She made it clear that the order shall not apply to police personnel, military and para military, homeguard jawans, doctors, officers on emergency duty and person to whom the permit will be issued.

Senior police officers conducted a flag march and made the announcement in this regard. The Deputy Commissioner said there is no Covid-19 positive case in the district and test resports of seven suspects are negative. — OC
