Tie rakhi to trees in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The Department of Forests and Wildlife, UT, has initiated a unique way to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. During the celebrations, nature lovers will be invited to Sukhna Lake and Botanical Garden to celebrate ‘Vrikshabandhan’, wherein people may tie a ‘rakhi’ to a tree to show their love for the nature. A specially designed stall shall be installed on August 3 to guide people. Debendra Dalai, Chief Conservator of Forests, UT, said: “This is one way to strengthen our bond with nature through the age-old tradition of Raksha Bandhan.” TNS

Honouring the soldiers

Chandigarh: To honour the soldiers of the country, all activists of the BJP, Chandigarh, will tie a ‘rakhi’ on the Tricolour at their houses. “We will pray for the protection and well-being of soldiers at the borders,” said Arun Sood, president, BJP.
