Three miscreants attacked a man and his wife before abducting her and fleeing in a car here on Wednesday.

In his statement to the police, the victim, Gurpreet Singh of Tarn Taran, stated that he had married Pinki, a resident of Ibn Khurd of Amritsar district, in a UT court on November 13. He said they started living at a rented accommodation in Nayagaon.

Gurpreet said he and his wife were waiting for a bus near Sunflower Hotel in Nayagaon when three youths came and started beating them up. He stated that he became unconscious with blood oozing out of his mouth. He alleged that the attackers forcibly took his wife in their car. Passersby took him to a hospital and on regaining consciousness, he approached the police.

A case has been registered at the Nayagaon police station. — TNS
