According to CBI, the agency received a complaint that the accused officers were demanding bribes to expedite the issuance of an NOC required under fire safety regulations. The complainant, who was unwilling to pay the bribe, contacted the agency and filed a complaint. After a preliminary inquiry, CBI laid a trap and arrested both accused for allegedly accepting Rs 80,000 as bribe.

KP Singh, counsel for the accused, argued that Nehra was falsely implicated in the case. The verification report revealed that the applicant did not demand any bribe from the complainant, and consequently, the applicant’s name was not recommended for registration of the FIR.

The investigation has concluded, and the prosecution has filed the chargesheet in this case. The public prosecutor opposed the bail, stating that Nehra and his co-accused were caught red-handed while accepting bribe money from the complainant. However, the court granted bail to Nehra, citing that the investigation is complete, and the final report has been submitted.
