Dr Amandeep Kaur Kang, Director, Health Services, UT, said: “We always request the families of the elderly Covid patients to keep them under the supervision of a hospital, especially if the patient has co-morbidities. To stop the disease from worsening, one should keep monitoring the oxygen saturation level at home from time to time through a pulse oxymeter. It is advised to immediately reach out for help when the oxygen saturation level falls below 95 per cent.”

Presently, the hospital occupancy of patients in Chandigarh is also quite low due to a decrease in the number of active cases. Only 21 patients in the UT are currently admitted to the PGI hospital.

At 6 per cent, the monthly positivity rate of December is also the lowest in the past five months, while the number of tests conducted was more than November.
