Mohali, September 22

The district administration will organise Covid testing camps for food business operators (FBOs) under Tandrust Punjab Mission.

Reviewing the sampling status in the district, Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said it had been decided to further increase sampling in the district. He said weekend camps would be organised area/marketwise wherein sampling of all FBOs and their staff would be undertaken. The samples of hotel/restaurant staff, dairies, grocery/kiryana stores, vegetable/fruit sellers and small vendors/rehriwalas would be taken during the camps, he added.

Girish Dayalan said, “The only way to defeat Covid-19 is aggressive testing. We are covering containment zones, contacts of positive patients, walk-in patients, suspected patients, international travellers, domestic passengers, government offices involving public dealing, but as the city and state have gradually relaxed the lockdown restrictions, the Covid testing is being scaled up to cover maximum population.”

As of now, nearly 67,000 samples have been culled for testing in the district.
