Cracker stalls at 12 locations in Chandigarh

A draw was held to issue licence to sell crackers on the occasion of Diwali. This time, 2,836 applications were received for 96 licences. The stalls will be set up at 12 locations from October 29 to 31.

A total of 20 stalls will be set up in Sector 43, 12 in Mani Majra, 11 in Sector 46, 10 in Ram Darbar, seven in Sector 49, six in Sector 24 and five each in Sectors 37, 33, 29, 28, 30 and 40.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
