A delegation of the Chandigarh Residents’ Associations Welfare Federation (Crawfed) met UT Adviser Dharam Pal today and sought an early resolution to some of the burning issues being faced by the residents.

Crawfed chairman Hitesh Puri said they sought general amnesty scheme for the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) dwelling units as a solution (on the lines of Delhi scheme) for the long pending issue of regularisation of construction made in the dwelling units beyond permissible limits.

“Till that time, please suspend all penal action like demolition and issuing notices of cancellation and taking usage charges/annual penalties,” Puri urged the Adviser.

The delegation also sought enhancing garbage processing capacities and shifting of garbage dump at Dadu Majra to a safe and far off place.

Puri also said there was an acute parking problem in the city and they suggested building community parking, especially in southern Sectors of Chandigarh.

Crawfed also pressed for representation of RWAs in the advisory bodies for different departments to give real voice to ordinary citizens in the planning and execution of public projects basis.

The federation further said a single window system should be implemented for addressing and resolving issues of public.
