A tragedy was averted on Friday night when a CTU bus suddenly caught fire in Manimajra.

The incident occurred around 8.30, with around 12 passengers on board.

The bus, operating on route number 22 from Sector-43 bus stand to IT Park, was nearing the Manimajra police post when sparks reportedly emerged from the front section of the vehicle.

The driver and conductor acted with commendable presence of mind, bringing the bus to a halt and evacuating all passengers without delay.

The bus was soon engulfed in flames. Firefighters arrived at the scene and began efforts to douse the fire. However, the vehicle was gutted.

Initial reports suggest a short circuit may have triggered the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Eyewitnesses noted that flames were seen rising high from the burning bus.
