The second edition of The Tribune Model United Nations (MUN), sponsored by Chitkara University and powered by Grid Advertising, Sector 34, concluded today at The Tribune School in Sector 29, with participants taking home some unforgettable memories.

The MUN witnessed committees representing the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which explored the regulation of Artificial Intelligence and governance for sustainable development. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) addressed the prevention of regional spill overs from the Israel-Gaza conflict and stability in the West Asia. The Human Rights Council (HRC) debated torture, arbitrary detention and extrajudicial killings in conflict zones. The UNSC also deliberated on the ‘National Strategy for Climate-Resilient Development: Balancing Economic Growth with a Just Energy Transition’. The International Press (IP), Journalism and Photography Committees discussed nurturing the next generation of journalists and photographers.

Prof Vandana Arora, chairperson, Department of Laws, Panjab University, along with Jyoti Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune Group of Publications, Amit Sharma, General Manager, The Tribune, and Rani Poddar, Principal, The Tribune School, awarded the winners.

“I must congratulate Tribune school and publications for providing such a wonderful platform to young minds to showcase their talent and gain the much-needed confidence at the right age,” said Dr Vandana. “It’s great to see the future torchbearers participating in this event and winning laurels. I wish you a best future,” said Jyoti Malhotra.

The UNGA Committee (I) with Sehajpreet Singh and Tapan Bharadwaj as executive board members declared Dairya Gupta (Vanuatu) of Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, the best delegate. Gurbai Boparai (Antigua and Barbados) of Chitkara International School, Sector 25, received high commendation, Cavish Sharma (USA) of St Anne’s School, Sector 32, and Kyra Arora (Republic of Korea) of Ashiana Public School, Sector 46, got special mention. Akshansh Thakur (India) of St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, Monisha (Brazil) of The Tribune School, Harliv Kaura (Spain) of Chitkara International School and Sharanya Pathak (Denmark) of Ashiana Public School got verbal mention.

The UNHRC Committee (II) with Arhant Mahajan (chairman) and Hemanksh Gupta (vice chairman) as executive members declared Raghav Sharma (Vanuatu) of Ryan International School, Sector 49, the best delegate. Sukhman Vasati (UK) of Blossoms Senior Secondary School, Patiala, received high commendation. Aishni Singh (Switzerland) of Yadavindra Public School, Mohali and Dakshesh (DPRK) of Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, got special mention while Ayan Garg (Denmark) of Saint Kabir, Sector 26, and Mishti Manchanda (Germany) of The Tribune School received verbal mention.

The UNSC (Committee III) had Abhijay Nagal on executive board. Aradhya Gupta (Sierra Leone) of Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, was honoured with the best delegate award. High commendations were presented to Vashweer (Malta) and Abhiroop (France) of Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36. Jaywardhan (Australia) of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Arnav Pura (India) of BVC and Kabir Singh (Equator) of Delhi Pubic School, Sector 40, received special mentions. Dhruv Garg (Egypt) of The Tribune School and Tanvi (USA) of St Joseph’s School got verbal mentions. The AIPPM Committee (IV) having Samarbeer Kamboj on executive board named Himaksh Chaudhary (Richard V) of Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, as the best delegate. High commendations were given to Arnav Gupta (Amrinder S Raja Warring) of Gurukul Global School and Devansh Sharma (Amit Shah) of Mount Carmel School. Falaq Shekhu (Priyanka Gandhi) of Guru Nanak Public School and Nabhij Kaura (Shashi Tharoor) of Gurukul Global School got special mention. The IP committee (IV) having Ayushman Monga as executive named Paramveer of Hansraj Public School as best journalist and Mithilesh of Guru Nanak Public School best photo journalist. Nidhani of St Soldier’ School, Panchkula, and Prerna of The Tribune School got special mention.

The two-day Tribune MUN–2025 witnessed participation of over 250 students from across the Tricity. The event was organised under the aim, ‘Where voices shape visions and visions shape the future’.
