In a major crackdown, Chandigarh’s cybercrime police station has busted a gang of fraudsters involved in fake job scams. Acting on an FIR dated March 28, six accused were arrested from Delhi and Ghaziabad.

The case was initiated on the complaint of Raj Kumar of Sector 20-A, who was allegedly duped of over Rs 1.4 lakh after being offered a fake job with Vistara Airlines. The accused lured him into paying multiple charges under the pretext of job formalities. He was asked to pay various charges with the promise of a refund after joining.

The gang used to post fake job ads in airlines, shopping malls, vehicle loans, health insurance, etc. on social media and tricked victims into transferring money. The arrested individuals include Kunal Kumar (22), Jeet Singh Sandhuja (46), Shan-e-Azam (33), Shah Faizal Ansari (34), Himanshu Kumar (23) and Rahul Kumar (22). Shan-e-Azam has a previous case against him of running a fake call centre in Noida.

The police recovered 17 mobile phones, a laptop, two forged documents and two cheque books.
