The water supply to 2,500 housholds in Daffarpur, Guru Nanak Colony and parts of Mor Tikri village has been disrupted for the past four days.

Residents said a tube well near Daffarpur developed a snag on May 26 after which the water supply was disrupted. Residents were agitated as officials concerned said the supply was unlikely to be restored in the next 24 hours.

“It has been three days since our water supply was affected, but it has not been restored yet. People are forced to buy water through tankers. The tanker owners have also increased the rates. No one in the administration is taking any responsibility for it,” said Jaipal Singh of Daffarpur village.

“Water supply department officials have stopped taking our phone calls,” said Vijay Ram, a Mor Tikri resident. Repeated phone calls to Dera Bassi SDO Karamjit Singh went unanswered. — TNS
