Dalwinder, Jaya lift tennis titles

On the concluding day of the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship, fourth seed from Punjab Dalwinder Singh and Jaya Kapoor emerged as the men’s and women’s singles champions, respectively.

Dalwinder lifted the title by defeating Vatsal Manikantan of Tamil Nadu in the summit clash. Singh won the opening set easily 6-1, but faced some resistance in the second taking it 7-5 to emerge victorious.

The women’s final, meanwhile, saw Jaya Kapoor of Uttrakhand cruise past Karnataka’s Vidula Amar with an identical 6-4 6-4 scoreline.
