Day after robbery, cops grope in dark

A day after the daylight robbery in Mohali, the local police are clueless about the Rs 37-lakh loot from a jewellery shop in Phase 10 here.
The police are still groping in the dark about the identity of the robbers as they failed to find any clue in the footage of CCTV cameras installed in adjacent showrooms.
Four men had looted Rs 35-lakh ornaments
- Four miscreants, carrying at least three pistols, had looted a jewellery shop at the Phase 10 market and had decamped with cash and ornaments valued around Rs37 lakh on Monday. The robbers took 15 minutes to loot Rs2.5 lakh and jewellery items worth around Rs35 lakh.
Inspector Kulvir Singh, SHO of the Phase 11 police station, said the number plate of the Baleno car used in the crime was not visible in the footage. He said they had not got any clue as yet, but investigations were on in this regard.
Meanwhile, members of the Jewellers Association, Mohali, the Tricity Jewellers Association, the Jewellers Association, Chandigarh, and the Trade Union, Mohali, today submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali, demanding adequate security for all jewellery shops. Four miscreants, carrying at least three pistols, had looted a jewellery shop at the Phase 10 market and had decamped with cash and ornaments valued around Rs 37 lakh yesterday. Sarbjeet Singh Paras, president, Jewellers Association, Mohali, expressed concern over the lack of adequate security measures for jewellers.
