The authorities concerned postponed examinations on a call given by the protesting students recently. The university will announce rescheduling of examinations soon.

“The delay in examinations is impacting our studies and causing significant financial and logistical hardships. Many of us have pre-booked travel tickets and scheduled programmes during the planned break. We urge the university administration to conduct all semester examinations on time to protect interests and itineraries of the student community,” said student from abroad, who is pursuing studies under the scholarship programme.

His classmate, on condition of anonymity said, “I am in a difficult position. I have come from abroad to study at Panjab University. Our itineraries are fixed. We plan our stay and travel months in advance. We should not be suffering because of the current situation. Rumours and uncertainty around the academic schedule have worsened the situation.”

“We are in constant touch with our international students, ensuring that they are well-supported in all matters related to internships, exams and upcoming events. Our team is working with them in a cooperative and friendly manner to address any concerns they may have. Please be assured that everything is under control and there is no need to worry,” said Prof Kewal Krishan, Dean, International Students, Panjab University.

Besides examinations, students are equally worried about their training — which might get delayed. “As final-year students, we are required to undertake a six-month research dissertation either within the department, at Mohali, or at another approved institution. Any delay in the examination schedule will defer our release from the department and consequently postpone research lab joining. It will also extend duration of the programme we are pursuing. Foreign students in particular will be affected, as such unplanned contingencies create additional academic and administrative challenges. I hope the authorities consider the impact on final-year foreign and local students as well,” said another student from abroad, who is also studying under the scholarship programme at Panjab University.
