Delhi’s Anil Mital defeated local contender Anil Sondhi (21-8, 21-14) to win the men’s 70 final on the concluding day of the All-India Masters Badminton Championship at the Sector 38 Sports Complex here today.

Sharad Mahajan won the men’s 65 final by defeating Mukesh (21-18, 21-13) and Punjab’s Ram Lakhan won the men’s 60 title by recording a comeback (19-21, 21-19, 23-21) win over top seed Harjit Singh.

In the men’s 55 final, Rajeev Sharma defeated VSK Lingeshwar Rao (19-21, 21-19, 30-28). In the men’s 50 final, Vijay Sharma outplayed Anil K Srivastava (21-9, 17-21, 21-12).

In the men’s 45 title clash, Jayendra Dhole defeated Vijay Sharma (23-21, 21-7), while Abhinn Shyam Gupta won the men’s 40 title by toppling top seed Lakwinder Singh (21-14, 21-9). In the men’s 35 final, Mayank Behl defeated Peeyush Aggarwal (21-13, 21-12).

The pair of Raghavan and Varun Sharma won the men’s doubles 35 final by defeating Abhishek Agarwal and Ankush Joshi (21-18, 21-11). In the men’s doubles 40 final, Lakhwinder and Varun Sharma defeated Jaideep Kohli and Mit Adhyaru (21-11, 21-12).

Ashish Khedikar and Jayendra Dhole won the men’s doubles 45 title by defeating Deepak Saxena and Haroon Rashid (21-10, 21-16). In the men’s doubles 50 final, Bijoy Kr Barman and Rajeev Sharma ousted Navdeep Singh and Rajneesh Bhatia (28-26, 21-11).

The pair of BVSK Lingeshwar Rao and Rajiv Sharma won the men’s doubles 55 final by registering a (21-13, 21-15) win over Harjit Singh and Ram Lakhan. In the men’s doubles 60 title clash, Harjit Singh and Ram Lakhan defeated Sunil Pai and Yogesh Sanghavi (20-22, 21-10, 21-11), while in the men’s doubles 65 final, Anil Sondhi and SS Pundhir defeated Ashok Kumar Mishra and Sunny Abraham (19-21, 22-20, 24-22). In the men’s doubles 70 event, the pair of SK Patet and Yogendra Kumar Jaiswal defeated Anil Sondhi and Pundhir (13-21, 21-12, 21-15).

Aditi-Manju shine in women doubles

The team of Aditi Rode and Manju won the women’s doubles 35 final by defeating top seed team of Aneesha and Prabinu (21-15, 21-17). In the women’s 40 final, S Banu and Yopu Boni defeated Manishi Singh and Mansi Goel (21-11, 21-16). In the women’s doubles 45 title clash, Jaysree Raghu and S Banu outplayed Lavita and Seema (21-14, 21-6).

Geeta Aggarwal and Sunita won the women’s doubles 50 final by defeating Manjiri and Seema (21-11, 21-18). In the women’s 35 final, Manju outplayed Aditi (16-21, 21-16, 21-19). In the 35 mixed doubles event, Mayank and Aditi defeated Varun Sharma and Yupu Boni (21-14, 21-15) and in the mixed doubles 40 final, Varun Sharma and Geeta Aggarwal outplayed Rudra Kaushik and Yupu Boni (21-19, 21-16).

In the mixed doubles 45 final, Mit Adhyaru and Banu outplayed Deepak Saxena and Geeta Aggarwal (21-8, 21-17). In the mixed doubles 50 final, Lingeshwar Rao and L Sunitha Raj outplayed Rajneesh Bhatia and Geeta Aggarwal (21-15, 22-20). In the mixed doubles 60 final, Harjit Singh and Neera Pasricha outplayed Lt Gen Aswani Kumar and Manjeet Sharma (21-10, 21-12).

Varun Sharma and Geeta Aggarwal were named the players of the tournament. Geeta scored a total of 30 points, while Sharma claimed 35 points to claim the titles.
