Delhi’s Samriti stuns Gujarat’s Saily in tennis tournament

Delhi’s Samriti Punyani stunned second seed Saily Thakkar of Gujarat 6-3, 6-4 to march into women’s semifinals during the ongoing CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship.

Top seed Karnataka’s Vidula Amar defeated Suhani Gaur of Rajasthan 6-1, 6-2, and Danica Fernando of Maharashtra ousted Delhi’s Lakshmi Gowda 6-1, 6-1. Qualifier Jeetesh Kumari recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win over fifth seed Sreenidhi R Amireddy.

In the men’s quarterfinals, top seed Sarthak Suden defeated Vansh Yadav of Uttar Pradesh 6-1, 6-2, and Maharashtra’s Omar Rehan Sumar defeated sixth seed Mayank Yadav 7-5, 7-5. Keshav Dangi defeated Sourav Kumar Yadav 6-0, 6-2 and second seed Moksh Puri defeated Anshumat Srivastava 6-2, 6-2.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles semis, the pair of Sarthak Sudan and Shreyas Dogial defeated Vansh Arora and Faizur Rehman 7-6(3), 6-1, while Karan Singh and Aryan Chauhan ousted Vansh Nandal and Moksh Puri 6-2, 6-3. In the women’s event, the pair of Saily Thakkar and Ruma Gaikaiwari defeated Suhani Gaur and Danica Fernando 6-3, 7-6(4), while the team of Aarushi Raval and Durganshi Kuimar defeated Anjali Dalal and Priyanshi Katial 6-2, 6-2.
