A 28-year-old delivery boy died after being run over by a truck near Oxford Street in Zirakpur this afternoon.

Parmendra Kumar, a resident of Indira Colony, Manimajra, was hit by the truck from behind. Passersby said the victim’s head was crushed under the wheels and he died on the spot.

On a statement of the deceased’s elder brother, Bunty Ram, a case of death by negligence has been registered at the Zirakpur police station.

The police said the truck driver fled the spot, leaving behind the vehicle. They are investigating the matter.
