A partners of De'Orra club was on Thursday arrested on extortion charges two days after a low intensity crude bomb exploded outside bar-cum-lounges, one of them owned by rapper Badshah, in Sector 26, Chandigarh.

The man, identified as Arjun Thakur, was arrested following a complaint by another club partner Nikhil Chaudhary, a resident of Patiala.

In his complaint, Nikhil had alleged that Arjun was demanding Rs 50,000 a month or he would “harm him”.

A case under Section 308(4) (extortion) of BNS has been registered against Arjun at Sector 26 police station. Police said Thakur has a criminal past and he was being questioned regarding the blasts outside the clubs.

In CCTV footage, an unidentified person was seen throwing something towards the lounge and thereafter a cloud of smoke emerged.  Sources said two suspects came on a motorcycle.

No casualties were reported.  The explosions shattered De'Orra's glass windows.
