The Department of Posts has introduced the service for distribution of holy Gangajal for the convenience of public and devotees directly through counters of selected post offices as well as through camps being organised in Chandigarh Postal Division.

In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the Kanwad Yatra has been banned; therefore the holy Gangajal service is being made available by the department for facilitating the devotees of Lord Shiva for special prayers during this auspicious Shraavan month.

A 250-ml bottle of Gangajal received from Gangotri is available for Rs30 only. The holy water is available in sufficient quantity and at present can be purchased directly from the counters of the GPO-17, Sector-19 PO, Sector-36 PO, Mani Majra PO, Sector-55 PO, Ropar Head Post Office and the Nangal Township PO.

It is also available at the online portal of India Post i.e. e-Post Office. Online, the 250-ml bottle is available for Rs121, a pack of two such bottles has been priced at Rs201 and that of four bottles at Rs321.
