The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been ranked 1st in Asia and 19th globally in Dermatology for 2025.

EduRank, a data-driven academic ranking platform, evaluated 1,885 universities worldwide for their research performance in dermatology, based on metrics such as publications and citations. The rankings were drawn from a pool of 14,131 global universities, placing PGIMER in elite international company.

Among the top 18 institutions ranked above PGIMER globally, 14 are from the US, including Harvard University, University of California, Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, and Mount Sinai. The remaining four hail from Europe, including University College London and Charité – Berlin.

Prof Sanjeev Handa, head of the department, said “Our consultants and residents have worked tirelessly to maintain academic excellence, even with a daily patient load of around 450 in the OPD,” he said.
