Sarangal stated that it was GMADA’s responsibility to maintain cleanliness in the areas developed by it. “No leniency will be shown towards officers or employees found neglecting their duties,” he asserted.
Designating Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Additional Chief Administrator-2, GMADA, as the nodal officer for ensuring upkeep of infrastructure, cleanliness and overall sanitation in the allotted sectors of GMADA, he said the junior engineers shall ensure regular inspection and monitoring of the roads, green belts, and other public infrastructure within their jurisdiction. They shall also coordinate with the sanitation staff and submit regular reports on the status of cleanliness and upkeep to the nodal officer.
Issuing detailed internal orders to GMADA staff tasked with sanitation and infra related operations, the chief administrator warned that any future complaints about poor maintenance will be dealt with strictly, and disciplinary action will be initiated against those found negligent.
The move comes in the backdrop of continued criticism from residents, who rued that GMADA was simply selling government land and collecting hefty fee from residents but not providing any infrastructure or maintenance. They say its role goes beyond just developing and selling plots.
“We are equally accountable for resolving post-development issues like cleanliness and infra related, which directly affect residents’ daily lives. GMADA will treat issues related to basic amenities as a priority and will act promptly to improve the situation wherever needed,” the chief administrator said.
