The police arrested the accused on April 15, 2019, from the area near Sector 53, Chandigarh, with 25 injections of Buprenorphine, 2 ml each, and 11 injections of Avil, 10 ml each, without any valid licence or permit.

After investigation the police presented charge sheet against the accused in the court and charges were framed against to which the accused pleaded not guilty and claimed trial. Counsel for the accused argued that he has been falsely implicated in the case and has not committed any offence. He said there was no compliance of Section 50 of NDPS Act as no proper procedure had been adopted by police. Public prosecutor argued that the accused failed to prove any permit to keep psychotropic substances, which are commercial in nature.
