He was arrested near the National Technical Teachers’ Training and Research Institute in Sector 26 following a tip-off on Tuesday. A knife was recovered from his possession.

A fresh case under Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against him at the Sector 26 police station.

During the preliminary investigation, it came to light that he was allegedly involved in an assault on two liquor contractors in Dhanas last year following a dispute over the pricing of liquor bottles. The victims, Balwinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh, had suffered serious fractures in their limbs. A case in this connection was registered at the Sarangpur police station on September 23 last year. He had been absconding since then. Vishal is categorised as a “Bad Character” at the Sector 11 police station.
