Chandigarh: Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Sector 19, has started an initiative of giving disposable ‘rumalas’ to devotees and other persons visiting the gurdwara. Tejinder Pal Singh, president of the gurdwara managing committee, said: “The ‘rumalas’ are being made from craft paper by a Dera Bassi-based NGO, which has roped in poor children for making these. Each piece costs around Rs1.50 and is disposable. The gurdwara has ordered 500 pieces. Using the disposable ‘rumalas’ helps maintain hygiene.” tns
