Door-to-door garbage collection was started in villages today by a private agency, Pooja Consultation Company, hired by the local MC.

There was no protest and people handed over garbage to workers of the company.

Loudspeakers have been installed on garbage collection vehicles of the vehicles, through which people were being urged to segregate wet and dry waste before handing it over to the collectors. After the villages, garbage collection work will also start soon in sectors.

The selected agency has been given the work for one year and now people will not have to pay any fee for garbage collection to the MC. Nearly 143 tonnes of garbage is generated daily from the entire area under the MC.

According to the Urban Local Bodies Department, the entire garbage will have to be collected before noon.

MC Administrator Dharamveer Singh said the work of garbage collection had started and efforts would be made to ensure that people did not face any problem.
