Senior dentist and PGIMER alumnus Dr RP Gupta has been elected as president of the Indian Dental Association, Chandigarh branch.

Dr Arpit Gupta, assistant professor, Oral Health Sciences Centre, PGIMER, has been elected as the honorary secretary for three years.

Other members elected in the executive committee are: Dr K Guaba, Dr Ashima Goyal, Dr SP Singh, Dr (Col) BR Paruthi, Dr Sachin Rai, Dr Ashish Gupta, Dr SanjeevVerma, Dr Varun Bajaj, Dr Sammardeep Singh Sodhi, Dr Aman Bhatia, Dr Shipra Gupta, Dr Gursharandeep Singh, Dr Vijeta Mehta, Dr Sujata Malik, Dr Jatinder Singh Thind, Dr Jagdeep Kaur, Dr Vidya Rattan, Dr Gurwinder S Dhamija, Dr Gurvanitlehl, Dr Devinder Kumar, Dr Aditi Kapur and Dr Gunjan Pruthi.

Dr RP Gupta said they would organise various public awareness programmes to promote oral health specially among government schools, blind schools, old-age homes, transport workers, etc. “Oral health is a neglected domain and there is a need to spread awareness in society. The IDA is committed to continuing dental education for the students and practising dentists in Chandigarh,” he said. — TNS
