Drug smuggler arrested from Kalka area

The anti-narcotic cell of the Panchkula police has arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 540 Alprazolam tablets from his possession. The accused has been identified as Charan Singh (39) alias Sonu of Tipra village in Kalka.

Officials said they received a tip-off that Charan Singh who has been smuggling and supplying banned drugs will come near government school at Tipra village in the Kalka area. A police party surrounded the spot and arrested him.

On interrogation and search, the police recovered 540 Alprazolam tablets from his possession.

The police have reregistered a case against him under Section 22A of the NDPS Act at the Kalka police station. The accused was produced in a local court and sent in two-day police remand.
