Dry day in Chandigarh on Thursday

The city will observe a 'dry day' on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).

As per the notification issued by the UT Administration, all liquor vends, bars, wholesale godowns and other excise establishments will remain closed from the midnight of October 1 to the entire day of October 2.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
