A day after a four-year-old girl was injured when festive lights came crashing down on her at the Elante mall, the Child Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) took cognisance of the incident and spoke with the girl’s parents.

The girl’s father, Navneet Thakur, said the commission gathered information about the incident and started an investigation. “I explained the incident to them. I also told them that no assistance was provided to us by the mall management at the time,” he said.

Thakur said the commission had assured them of addressing the matter seriously. “They have recorded my statement, and I am ready to assist further if needed,” he said. On Wednesday, Thakur, a resident of Sector 50, visited the mall with his wife and four- year-old daughter, Avni, to celebrate Christmas. The family purchased tickets for the make-shift “Winter Wonderland”, which was set up on the premises of the mall.

There was a designated dance floor for children. The area was adorned with hanging lights, some of which suddenly fell and one of these hit Avni on the forehead. She suffered a minor injury on the forehead.
